Post an opening once and leave it up
Sep 12, 2026
Most childcare spots do not come with an end date. A room has space, and it has space until a family fills it. Openings on FindChildcare.ca now work the same way: post one, leave the end date off, and it stays on your page until you take it down.
An opening can now say "available now" and mean it
When you post an opening you set two things: when it starts, and whether it ends. Starting today is the default. Ending is a choice.
Leave it on No end date and the opening stays on your listing for as long as the spot is open. Nothing to push forward every week, nothing to remember.
If you do know when it ends, because a child starts in November and the room is full after that, choose Ends on, put the date in, and the opening comes down on its own that day.

The fields around it are the ones you know. Spaces, ages, fee and the waitlist the opening belongs to work exactly as they did, and how to add your openings walks through each of them.
Your dashboard shows what parents can see
Every opening now carries a label: Live if families can see it now, Scheduled if it starts later, Ended if it has come down. A glance at the list tells you what your public page is showing.

An ended opening has an Extend button. One click, save, and it is back up with no end date. The spaces, the ages, the fee and the note all come with it.
The Saturday email keeps carrying you
The weekly email to families now has two parts: what is new this week, and what is still available. An opening that has been live for a month keeps going out under the second heading. Post it once and it keeps reaching families.
The same rule runs everywhere a family can find you. The open spots filter in search returns listings with an opening that is live today, so a parent who clicks through sees the spot they came for, and the "with openings now" count on each city page counts the same way.
Your existing openings are exactly as they were
Every opening you already had kept its dates and is showing as before. The new end-date choice is there next time you post or edit one.
If you have spots that are simply open, this is a good moment to open each opening, choose No end date, and save. That is the last time you need to touch it until the spot fills.
What we are working on next
A gentle check-in on openings that have been up a while, so the spot counts families see are ones you have confirmed recently. Parents trust current numbers, and that trust is worth protecting for everyone listed here.
If something about your week on FindChildcare.ca could be easier, tell us. We read everything.
