About this center
A part of our beautiful ocean-side community for over 50 years, this high-quality preschool is a home away from home for each child and their family. We offer you the opportunity to be involved in your child's first school experiences, through opportunities to join classes throughout the month, holding a position within the school, and taking part in community building events. Year after year, families have returned for the love and sense of community Oak Bay Preschool offers. We are greatly inspired by the Reggio Emilia pedagogical approach, learning through curiosity, nature, and child-led free play. Our space is filled with age-appropriate play materials, some in loose forms for open-ended discovery and creativity. We also offer a wide variety of opportunities for learning through nature, the arts (with many artistic mediums to work with), music/movement, and early S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math). We have an attached outdoor classroom, where we spend time each day, rain or shine. We view each child as a capable, intelligent individual and we join them as enthusiastic collaborators and partners in the wonder and awe of early years learning.
Oak Bay Parent-Owned and Teacher-Run Preschool is member of The Vancouver Island Cooperative Preschool Association (VICPA).
We offer a preschool program for 3-5 year-olds; classes are led by our experienced Early Childhood Educator, Keira, and our Early Childhood Educator Assistant, Thuy; in addition, each class is also attended by a parent assistant. Classes run from September to June.
